Gruss Vom Krampus (ca. 1900)

A "Greetings From Krampus" card, dating from around 1900. A good little girl is enjoying treats, while a rotten little brat is stuffed in the basket... which makes me wonder if that all-too-happy little girl isn't a bit of a psychopath! Many of these postal card Krampus' were also drawn with one cloven hoof, a classic feature of the Devil himself in many cultures; so pretty much everyone knew who the character was based on, which is why Krampus was later dubbed "the Christmas Devil" by some.
